Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Bet Aches collects when you submit an entry, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to betaches.com and the entry form at /submit.
1. What We Collect
You give us directly, through the entry form
- Contact information: your name and email address.
- Location: your state of residence, and city if you provide it.
- Payment handle: the username or handle for the payment app you want a prize sent to, and which app it is. We do not collect bank account numbers, routing numbers, debit or credit card numbers, or Social Security numbers through this form.
- Entry content: the league, teams, bet type, amounts wagered and at stake, the date of the game, and your written account of what happened.
- Uploaded media: an image of your bet slip, and optionally a video or audio recording of your reaction.
- Consents: your age confirmation and your agreement to the Official Rules and the content license.
Collected automatically
- Abuse prevention data: a truncated or hashed form of your IP address and a spam-check token, used to enforce entry limits and block automated submissions. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
- Basic request data: standard server and CDN logs generated when your browser loads a page.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels on this site.
2. Why We Use It
- To judge your entry and run the weekly contest.
- To contact you about your entry, and to reach you if you win.
- To pay a prize, if you win.
- To feature winning and shortlisted entries on the program and in related promotion, under the license described in the Official Rules.
- To detect and prevent fraud, duplicate entries, and abuse.
- To meet legal and tax obligations, including issuing a Form 1099 where required.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that has a legal effect on you. Winner selection is a human editorial judgment.
3. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. If that ever changes, we will update this policy, post notice on this page, and provide a working opt-out mechanism before the change takes effect.
4. Who We Share It With
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, for the purposes above:
- Our hosting and database provider, which stores entries and uploaded media.
- Our transactional email provider, which delivers confirmation and winner notification emails.
- Our bot-protection provider, which screens form submissions.
- A payment provider, used only to send a prize to a confirmed winner.
- The production team for the program, who review entries for the show.
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or where necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.
5. How Long We Keep It
- Uploaded reaction video and audio from entries that are not shortlisted or selected: deleted automatically on a rolling schedule, currently ninety days after submission.
- Bet slip images from entries that are not shortlisted or selected: deleted on the same rolling schedule.
- Media from shortlisted and winning entries: retained indefinitely, because it is used in published episodes.
- Entry text and contact records: retained while the Contest operates, so we can enforce entry limits and detect duplicates.
- Winner payment and tax records: retained as long as tax law requires.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, request a copy of it, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To make a request, email the address listed in Section 9. We will verify your identity by confirming control of the email address you entered with, and respond within the time the applicable law requires.
Two limits worth stating plainly: we cannot delete content from episodes that have already been published, and asking us to delete an entry that is under active consideration will withdraw it from the Contest.
7. Children
This site is not directed to children. Entry requires you to be at least 21, or the legal age of majority in your state, whichever is greater. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Entries and uploaded media are stored in private, access-controlled storage. Media is never publicly linkable; the production team views it through short-lived signed links. Access to the review console is restricted to a named list of accounts and every status change and media view is logged. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Contact
Privacy questions and requests: the contact email will be listed here prior to launch.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. If we make a material change to how we use information you already submitted, we will notify you at the email address on your entry.
